Assiniboine Provincial Park is in the heart of the Canadian Rockies. It's a back country treasure chest waiting to be opened. The conditions during the fall months are of unparalleled beauty. Let us guide and mentor you around some of the most breathtaking spots in this part of the world.
The tour starts and ends in Canmore. On the first day our helicopter flight will take us into some of the most pristine wilderness in the Canadian Rockies. It's worth mentioning that the end of September is the best time to visit Mount Assiniboine Provincial Park as it's when the famous larch trees turn bright yellow creating stunning photography opportunities around every corner. The accommodation for the duration of the trip will be in the Naiset Backcountry Huts. They offer easy access to all the wonderful lakes, hikes and photography spots. The Naiset huts are typical Canadian back country huts with basic shared accommodation (sleeps 8) and a communal cooking shelter.
Temperatures at this time of the year can be very unpredictable. During our last year's excursion we had mornings as cold as -16C and days as hot as +20C, with snow on the first day and summer weather on the last. The huts all have individual fireplaces but please come prepared for the alpine conditions. Due to the remoteness of the location all food must been flown in with you as well. Pots and gas are provided in the cooking shelter.
During our time there we will have the opportunity to photograph all sunrises and sunsets. Weather permitting we will try some astrophotography too. The workshop is perfect for beginner as well as intermediate photographers. We will make sure you come out with the best possible results and with photographs that will be worth hanging on your wall!
A reasonable level of fitness is required to participate. Due to the absence of roads we will have no choice but to hike everywhere. That's by no means is an obstacle and it will only add excitement to our adventure! The trails are very well marked and maintained.
